Honey Glazed Ham

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups rye whiskey (bourbon or other whiskey will do, too)

  • 3/4 cup Potli honey 1/4 cup molasses (mildflavored, light)

  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

  • Smoked bone-in ham (cured, skin removed if needed)

  • Vegetables to surround the ham- we used red onions and pearl onions. Potatoes and green beans are an excellent choice, as well

Directions:

  • Combine whiskey, honey, red pepper flakes, and ground black pepper in a saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes to reduce

  • Place ham and veggies in a pan and cover with foil. Place in an oven for until ham has an internal temperature of 120 degrees (350 degrees for about 20 minutes)

  • Cut a cross hatch pattern over ham (about 3/4 inch deep) and brush or pour glaze on top, coating any excess glaze on vegetables as desired

  • Place the ham in the oven for another 10 minutes

  • Serve warm!
